Cycling has been around for ages and is considered to be one of the healthiest sports in the world. Road bicycle racing is a sport which is held on roads. Riders use racing bikes, for road racing, a term used for events when competing riders kick off by cycling simultaneously on the same track. The winner is decided by seeing who reaches the finish line first at the end of the road.

Road cycling and Australia have a long and proud history, and most Australian road cyclists are now featured on the rosters of the most popular professional teams around the globe Plenty of Australian citizens have claimed important positions in the most internationally acclaimed teams around the world, beginning their careers through domestic events. Australia has weekly cycle races on the weekend, where hopeful competitors compete hoping to race their way into the big leagues for world-wide recognition.

Australia hosts its famous Mars Cycling Australia Road National Championships year after year, which is sponsored by industry bigwigs, generating a lot of buzz amongst enthusiasts. The tournament for 2011 was held in Ballarat, which was promoted by Caribou Publications.

Women:

The most anticipated bicycle events happen on an international scale, at high profile events such as the Olympic and Commonwealth games, along with the World Cycling Championship. Winning the World Championship Trophy is the highest honour any cyclist can hope to achieve.

All bicycle races employ the use of diamond frame bicycles consisting of two triangles, made from different steel alloys.  The primary emphasis on the structure of a bike in order for it to be within the safety regulations of the counsel is the ratio between its steering and the seat.

There is an enormous amount of betting that goes down when cycling events like the Tour De France kick in. There are entire operations dedicated to weighing in the odds on certain victories and losses, with big money being won and lost based on the outcome of the races and events, such as the one day classics betting, or betting based on the entire tournament.

Cycle racing is most popular in Europe, especially in countries like Italy, Spain, Germany, Denmark, France, Spain and the Netherlands. Cycle racing also has international credibility in countries like the UK, the US and Australia.

The most recent event in cycling that has left everybody buzzing is the 2012 Santos Tour Down Under, which drew crowds of over seven hundred and fifty thousand people gathered around in the streets of Adelaide and the South Australian region to see the best cyclists in the world compete against each other, with classic bets being made left, right and centre to see which champion takes home the gold.
